  • 2026 Championship contenders

Who will be crowned the champion of 2026? Changes to the 2026 Cars With the new regulations for the 2026 cars, Drivers are still learning the complexities of their car. Here's how the car has changed and what you need to know: Shorter Wheelbase: The wheelbase will be shorter, enhancing the car will be more responsive around corners. Narrower Front Wing: The front wing is narrower and smaller, which reduces downforce and makes for easier overtaking. 18-Inch Pirelli Tyres: The cars will have narrower 18-inch Pirelli tyres, which will reduce drag and grip, potentially making corners more difficult. No DRS: There will be no Drag Reduction System (DRS); instead, active aero will open front and back wings on the straights. Overtake Button: An overtake button will be available, but it can only be used in specific areas on the track. Engines: The engines are no longer 75% ice and 25% electric power, but 50-50. These changes will significantly impact driving styles and strategies in the upcoming season. information- https://www.formula1.com George Russell- Age- 28 First season- 2019 Debut with Mercedes- 2022 Podiums- 25 George Russell has consistency over races which has become a key thing that keeps him in the points and always a driver to look out for on track. He is team leader at Mercedes as his teammate is only in his second season. Russell also had one-lap pace this is a vital part of what helps him stay in the points. Russell had been labelled the 'tyre whisperer' after making a one-stop work in his favour. The W17 is expected to be a strong vehicle, as the last time new engine regulations were introduced in 2014, Mercedes had an advantage over the other teams. This should put Russell in the prime position to win a championship. Oscar Piastri- Age- 24 First season- 2023 Debut with McLaren- 2023 Podiums- 26 Oscar Piastri manages to keep a calm head in most situations, which can be a key part of race strategy. He will also come into the 2026 season with bittersweet memories of his lost championship, but 2025 Oscar Piastri is in the past. He was still learning , and I believe the mistakes he made at the time were the only way for him to learn and grow to be able to fight for the 2026 championship. So he should not be ruled out just because he made mistakes in the backend of the 2025 season; in reality, Piastri was only 13 points from Norris in the end. Piastri's chances really depend on McLaren, as we all know it was the fastest car last year, but that might not stand this year. Max Verstappen- Age- 28 First season- 2016 Debut with Redbull- 2016 Podiums- 127 Never should Verstappen be ruled out as a contender for the championship. Verstappen is quick to learn his car, and although he can complain, he hardly finishes out of the points. He has the kind of edge to push around the other drivers, which sometimes can be necessary. The fate of Verstappen lies in the hands of Red Bull, whether their car works with the skills of Verstappen . Like I said before, Verstappen likes to share his issues with the car, which he already has, but at the end of the day, we all know he will be fierce on track and push through the field with ease. Lando Norris- Age- 26 First season- 2019 Debut with McLaren- 2019 Podiums- 44 The 2025 world champion. Last year, Norris was under immense pressure off the back of fighting Verstappen for the 2024 championship. This pressure carried into 2025 as he was now also against his own teammate for the championship, but this just proves that Norris can work under pressure. He delivered great results every race. Taking this into 2026, Norris will still be under pressure, although not as much. McLaren is still expected to be one of the fastest cars with their Mercedes power unit, but Norris should feel a sense of c alm and achievement because he has done what every F1 driver sets out to do won a championship.

  • Only one will win

Norris, Verstappen, Piastri Only one will win. Will Lando Norris win his first title that he's been fighting for since mid-2024? Or will Verstappen snatch his fifth title? Or maybe Piastri will achieve his first title after a turbulent end to the season. It's clear each driver has worked hard to get to the point they are at now, but three people can't win a title; only one will come away victorious. Lando Norris has been fighting for points all season. He started off the season with his win in Australia, which ultimately led to him leading the championship until it was taken by Piastri in Saudi Arabia. In Mexico, Norris was able to take back the lead of the championship as his teammate experienced some difficulties over the coming races. In Vegas, both McLarens were disqualified, which meant a loss of points for Lando but also meant his teammate was closer to him in points. He remains in the lead going into Abu Dhabi and has the highest chance of winning the championship. The question is, will McLaren implement team orders in Norris's favour to help him win the title? Max Verstappen is a big threat to McLaren because he is an excellent driver who isn't afraid to use an aggressive driving skill. This season, Max has been consistently winning and moving his way up the championship ranks. After being 104 points behind Piastri after Zandvoort, Max was able to close the gap and even become 2nd in the championship. Verstappen is definitely never to be ruled out and seems to have a strong chance at winning his 5th title. Oscar Piastri led the championship since Saudi Arabia and kept getting consistent results to keep him in the lead until he began to fall behind and experience some difficulties within races and his car. This let his teammate Lando retake the lead. In Qatar, McLaren made the wrong strategy decision which allowed Verstappen to overtake him in the championship. Oscar has the least chance to win the championship, but he can never be ruled out at any point and might surprise us all on Sunday!

  • Papaya Problems

2025 constructor championship for McLaren. At what cost? From lights out, Oscar and Lando were racing each other. Into turn one, Oscar takes the gap on the right, and Lando takes the gap on the left but takes a lot of curb as he does. Oscar backs out of the move on Verstappen because Lando is there. Additionally, because Lando is there and Oscar is aware of that, he begins to drift out from the racing line to block Lando. Norris finds himself in an awkward V shape going into turn three, where he ideally doesn't want to be (you want to be closer to the right to get straighter for the braking zone so the tires have more grip). Lando finally gets straight, but he has Verstappen in front of him going slower into the corner. Norris doesn't want to slow because he is racing Oscar, but Verstappen is unaware that this race is pursuing behind him, so he continues the slow pace into the corner. Norris is unable to slow down enough because of the race with Oscar and Verstappen's pace. Then contact is made with the back of Max, which only gives him a snap of oversteer. Due to the contact with Max, there is then contact with Oscar, which nearly sends Oscar into the barrier. Oscar immediately expresses his displeasure over the radio with the message to his race engineer: "Yeah, I mean that wasn't very team-like, but sure," he stated. Moments later, he continued to vent his frustration: "So, are we cool with Lando just barging me out of the way?" He asked his race engineer, but it seemed as if he was addressing McLaren as a whole with "we". Here I believe Oscar was looking for the place to be given back or for Lando to be reprimanded for his aggressive overtake, which Oscar believed to be against the rules. But ultimately, the stewards deemed it a racing incident, and Lando was given no penalty, nor was he asked to swap positions by McLaren. When the race concluded Oscar finished P4 and Lando P3. When Zac Brown attempted to communicate with Oscar over his radio in order to celebrate McLaren winning the constructor. "Oscar, back to back champions, good race, tough race. Thank you uh-" Zac browns messaged followed before he was cut off by Piastri unplugging his radio. Papaya Rules Papaya rules is a set of rules created by McLaren that essentially mean Oscar and Lando are free to race as long as they don't crash into each other. Oscar and Lando have both been team players, following the rules as well as listening to team instructions. For example: Monza 2025: Lando was ahead of Oscar, so he got the first pit stop where McLaren wanted Lando to come out in front of Oscar. However, due to a slow pit stop, that did not happen, and Lando came out of the pits behind Oscar. McLaren told Piastri to swap places with Lando. Initially, Piastri questioned the order, but he complied and returned the position to Norris. Hungary 2024: Oscar had been the race leader for a good portion of the Grand Prix, but during the second round of pit stops, Lando was pitted first to cover off Charles Leclerc. This made Norris gain the lead, following Oscar's slow pit stop. McLaren instructed Norris to give back the position; at first, he was very reluctant, which caused a delay, but with three laps to go, Norris obliged and gave Piastri his place back for his maiden win. Is Oscar's frustration warranted, or is it simply a part of racing?

  • Christian Horner

The red bull curse It appears that not only is the second Red Bull seat jinxed, but now the Red Bull team principal seat is too. On the 9th of July 2025, it was publicly announced that Horner was to leave Red Bull with immediate effect, and Laurent Mekies, team principal of RB, stepped into the role of Red Bull team principal. The reason for Horner's departure was speculated by many Formula 1 fans. The most common rumour that floated around was that allegations made against Horner in February 2024 about inappropriate behaviour towards a female employee. Horner denied these allegations despite screenshots and pictures. Some think that these allegations have come back to bite him as he kept receiving negative backlash as a result of the allegations. This is where the rumour came from that states allegedly Horner was fired because the negative backlash directed at Horner was ruining Red Bull's image within sponsors and the public eye. Another speculation was that the owners were unsatisfied with the second Red Bull car's performance. At the beginning of the season, the seat was occupied by Liam Lawson, who did not manage to secure any points for the team, which is unsurprising as the team only gave Lawson two races in the car. From Japan 2025 to present, the seat is occupied by Yuki Tsunoda, who only managed to secure 10 points over 12 races. The final popular speculation is that Horner was wanting more and more control within the Red Bull team. It is speculated that the management wanted more control of the commercial side of things, but Horner was unwilling to give up control. Ultimately, he was unable to win the power struggle.

  • Australian Grand Prix 2025

1st. Lando Norris 2nd. Max Vertsappen 3rd. George Russell What a terribly sad day for Oscar Piastri at his home race, and he leaves with only two points after fighting from the back of the grid as a result of spinning on lap 44. On lap 44, turn 12, Oscar started by sliding onto the gravel and ended by sliding down and getting his car beached on the grass, leaving him stuck momentarily, allowing cars to fly past. Beached on the wet grass for what seemed like an age, Oscar struggled back into the race. A huge roar could be heard from the fans as their local hero somehow reversed off the soaked grass and back into the race, but unfortunately, he had gone from P2 on the podium all the way down to P13. We anticipated a good race from the Spaniard after Williams' promising pre-season test and good qualifying for the team, but the curse of previous winners retiring from the race the year after they've won struck yet again. Crashing on the second warm-up lap on turn 14 under the safety car, after the original start was aborted, left him out of the race. 6 rookies, only two cross the finish line Hadjar went around turn 2, slowing down in preparation to accelerate and warm up his tyres. As he did so, he slid on the wet racing lines and crashed into the barrier, leaving him out of the race. While walking back to team hospitality in tears, he was stopped by Anthony Hamilton, who offered his comfort after the upset of the race. Hadjar's upset was understandable, yet Helmut Marko decided to make a comment calling it embarrassing. It was not embarrassing; what's embarrassing is Helmut Marko deciding he has the right to an opinion about everyone else. Doohan had an unavoidable crash as he spun, which was caused by the wet and dreary weather that brought out the first safety car. Doohan's race was over before it even started as he crashed on the first lap. Bortoleto crashed on lap 46. Speculation is that he had contact with his teammate, as the replays of his crash showed suspension damage before he hit the wall. We expected better things from new Red Bull driver Liam Lawson, but he did not deliver as he crashed on lap 47. The horrible race for the driver followed from the disappointing qualifying where he was unable to even get out of Q1.

  • Chinese Sprint Race 2025

Sprint race 1. Lewis Hamilton 2. Oscar Piastri 3. Max Verstappen Lewis Hamilton wins his first race in red! After the disappointment of the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton comes back to China better and faster, taking the fastest in sprint qualifying and finishing first in the sprint, winning him 8 points, more than he won after the Australian Grand Prix. Chinese Grand Prix 2025 1. Oscar Piastri 2. Lando Norris 3. George Russell Oscar Piastri wins the Chinese Grand Prix, his third-ever win after his first-ever pole position. Following the disappointment of the Australian Grand Prix, the weekend seemed promising for Oscar. He took second place in the sprint race and later went on to get his maiden pole position with a time of _. His teammate was not far behind as Norris qualified third, with the McLaren pair being split by Mercedes driver George Russell. During the race, it seemed to be smooth sailing for the pair until the last few laps when Norris's brakes decided to give up on him, forcing him to brake early to go around corners. This gave Russell an advantage to catch up to Norris. Fortunately, Norris kept second place, earning McLaren their 50th 1-2 finish. Fernando Alonso crashes again after also crashing in the Australian Grand Prix. The 2025 season hasn't been off to a great start for Alonso. Will we see him improve? Compared to the Australian GP, fortunately, none of the rookies crashed this race. In fact, two of the rookies were in the points: Kimi Antonelli in sixth place, earning him 8 points, and Oliver Bearman in eighth place, earning him 4 points. Hadjar, Lawson, and Doohan weren't far out of the points, with Hadjar in P11, Lawson in P12, and Doohan in P13. These results also consider the fact that three drivers were disqualified, which gave Lawson, Hadjar, and Doohan a few more places. Regarding the subject of disqualification, both Ferrari drivers were disqualified for separate reasons. Lewis Hamilton was disqualified on account of the underbody plank being 0.1mm below the minimum permitted 9mm, whereas Charles Leclerc was disqualified because his car was underweight. When fuel was drained from Leclerc's car, two liters as per the draining procedure, the Ferrari dropped to a weight of 799kg, just below the minimum of 800kg. This was the same for the Alpine of Pierre Gasly. The weight loss came after both Gasly and Leclerc did a one-stop race; Leclerc's stint after his pit stop was 41 laps (73% of the race distance), and Gasly's final stint was 46 laps (82%).

  • Miami Sprint Race

Lando Norris 2. Oscar Piastri 3. Lewis Hamilton Prior to the commencement of the Sprint, a delay of 10 minutes occurred due to heavy rainfall. Unfortunately, the adverse weather conditions caused Leclerc to spin off the track, resulting in his withdrawal from the sprint race. Numerous drivers reported significant visibility issues, citing the rain and spray from the vehicles ahead as major contributing factors. Kimi Antonelli fought fiercely for first place instead of conceding the position, which ultimately caused him to run wide and re-enter the track in fourth place. This allowed Oscar to lead in first, while Lando capitalized on the situation and slipped into second behind him. Fernando Alonso's crash occurred when Liam Lawson made contact with his rear tire, causing Alonso to spin into the wall. This incident triggered the deployment of a safety car while Oscar was accelerating down the straight. As a result, Oscar had to reduce his speed, allowing Lando to emerge from his pit stop in provisional first place. Carlos clipped the inside of the wall on the tight chicane. As Antonelli exited the pit lane, Max Verstappen was released by the Red Bull mechanics directly into his path. This resulted in damage to Verstappen's front wing, leading to a subsequent 10-second penalty for the driver.

  • Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

    1. Max Verstappen 2. Oscar Piastri 3. Lando Norris The race had only just begun, yet it felt as if it was already over. At the second corner, Russell and Piastri began to slow down in preparation for the upcoming corner. Verstappen braked much later, meaning he carried more speed into the corner, allowing him to overtake Piastri and Russell. After that, the pair were unable to get their original positions back from Max. This is due to a few factors; one is the fact that, in general, Imola is a track where it is difficult to overtake as there are not many opportunities for it. Another factor was the safety cars, which Max was able to use to his advantage and pit without losing P1. After a disappointing qualifying for Ferrari: Leclerc - P11 Hamilton - P12 Race results: Hamilton - P4 Leclerc - P6 Rookie Antonelli at his home race. He started with qualifying's P13; other than Australia, this is one of Antonelli's lowest qualifying results. He ended the race weekend with a throttle issue that forced him to retire from the race, much to the upset and disappointment of fans. During the race, many made comments that Oscar wasn't pushing as hard as he could have and that he was "sleeping behind the wheel." Personally, I think Oscar was not challenging Max due to factors during the race that just left him unable to challenge Max, but also the fact that Oscar knows his championship battle is not with Verstappen currently. Max will always be a threat, but in that moment, his fight was with his teammate Norris.

  • Monaco Grand Prix

1st. Lando Norris 2nd. Charles Leclerc 3rd. Oscar Piastri At the very beginning of the race, Lando Norris locked up going into the first corner, leaving drivers with different thoughts. Oscar thought Lando had crashed, which he stated in the cooldown room after the race, and presumably, it made Charles feel he had a chance at overtaking Lando. Bortoleto was into the wall on lap one, believing Kimi pushed him off track into the wall, but no further action came from that. His crash brought out the safety car. Lap Nine: Gasly crashed into the back of Tsunoda, ripping a wheel off. He drove back into the pits, which was questioned by commentators because the required procedure is to immediately stop the car. However, as we watched Gasly roll into the pit, we witnessed the pit crew having to stop the car, and we learned he was unable to stop the car himself. Racing Bulls playing sacrifice as Liam Lawson holds the pack up so that Hadjar is able to take a pit stop without losing any positions. Fernando Alonso retires on lap 38 due to smoke being seen. Russell refuses to give Albon a position back, instead opting for a penalty as he believes Albon is driving "erratically." For that, he received a 20-second penalty.

In this article, we will examine the key facts surrounding this announcement. 2021 Season Overview Tsunoda embarked on his Formula 1 journey in 2021, joining the AlphaTauri team. Throughout the season, he accumulated a total of 32 points . His best performance came with a commendable 4th place finish in one of the races. Throughout the season, he accumulated a total of 12 points. His best performance came when he secured a commendable 7th place finish. Ultimately, he concluded the season ranked 17th in the driver standings. The results this year did not meet the expectations set by those of 2021. 2023 Season Overview Tsunoda's teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, was replaced by Liam Lawson prior to the Dutch Grand Prix due to Ricciardo's unfortunate hand injury. Throughout the season, Tsunoda achieved a remarkable total of 17 points . During his temporary stint as Tsunoda's teammate for five races, Lawson managed to collect 2 points . Tsunoda's best finish was an impressive 8th place . In comparison, Lawson's highest finish was 9th place . Tsunoda's best finish was an impressive 7th place. Meanwhile, Lawson's top finish was 9th place. Ultimately, Tsunoda concluded the season ranked 12th in the driver standings. On the other hand, Lawson finished in 21st place. From the results, it is evident that Yuki has accumulated more experience and overall points. He has also demonstrated loyalty to the Red Bull and AlphaTauri teams. However, during races, Yuki often expresses frustration over the radio and tends to be quick to dismiss communications from his team. Tsunoda's preference for minimal interaction during races can pose challenges for the teams as they attempt to relay important information. On the other hand, Lawson has participated in only 11 races in Formula, indicating a level of inexperience. However, this also suggests that he has significant potential yet to be fully realized, as we have not yet witnessed the extent of his capabilities. Japanese Grand Prix After two races with Redbull Lawson was replaced by Tsunoda. This was a consequence of Lawson being unable to provide the best results for the team as he struggled to adapt to the RB21. Doohan Out? Colapinto In? Doohan currently holds a seat with Alpine for the 2025 season; however, it has been disclosed that his contract allows for participation in up to six races. What will transpire once that limit is reached? 7th May 2025 After 6 races with Alpine Doohan was replaced with Colapinto, Doohan was replaced because Alpine was disappointed with his race results. Colapinto has the seat for the next five races and it is rumoured that Mick Schumacher could subsequently replace Colapinto if Colapinto is unable to produce results that pleases the team.

  • Will Formula One 2025 Pre Season Testing Set the Stage for an Exciting Racing Season?

Day 1. Testing Unsurprisingly on day one of testing in Bahrain Lando Norris was the quickest . It was something I expected as I and many others believe that  McLaren will be the team to beat in 2025  just like they were in the 2nd half of 2024 and the first day of testing seem to prove most of us right in our predictions. Norris's time of 1:30.430 was closely followed by some drivers that we are used to seeing at the top. The three teams behind which were Mercedes, red bull and Ferrari  are too close to call. George Russell +0.157 Max Verstappen +0.244 Charles Leclerc +0.448 After Charles there was someone many of us are used to seeing in the top but when he announced his departure from Ferrari to Williams  many thought that would be the  last we see of him . In the 2024 season Williams didn't get off to a great start but Carlos Sainz promised to bring back Williams . AS promised we see Carlos Sainz go  5th fastest  on testing day one Day 2. Testing As he did on day one . Carlos Sainz exceed expectations  for filling his promise to Williams by being the fastest of the day with his time of 1:29.348  which is also quicker than Norris's time yesterday  and Sainz's time on hards was quicker than the Williams managed on soft's during qualifying in last years Bahrain GP showing the big steps Williams have made in improving their car . Sainz's time was very closely followed by the two Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton +0.031 Charles Leclerc +0.083 Following the two Ferrari's was both Mercedes and then unexpectedly Lance Stroll. Stroll seems to have a reputation of making simple mistakes, in a car that many predict will be worse than last years AMR24 though nobody truly knows whether teams were showing the cars full potential on ay two, but on day two of testing he managed to come 6th fastest. Day 3. Testing On the final day of testing, George Russell achieved the fastest lap with an impressive time of 1:29.545, completing a total of 91 laps. He finished just 0.021 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, showcasing a close competition at the top . Meanwhile, Williams made significant strides, with Alex Albon securing the third-fastest time.
